Prolific is hands down the BEST website available to complete surveys and tasks to earn money. You complete surveys and tasks for researchers and they pay you money once your submission is approved.
Unfortunately, there is generally a waitlist to join the site. When I applied a few years ago, it took me a few days to be accepted. I have seen other folks talk about not being accepted after months. Regardless, it would behoove you to join the waitlist immediately as Prolific is a quality and consistent money earning tool.
Once accepted, you will face the daunting task of filling out the ‘About You’ section. It is a LOT. I know. But, trust me, this will all be worth it.
After you complete the ‘About You’ section and start getting tasks, you will see a range of both micro and macro tasks you can complete ranging from tasks that take you a minute or less to multiple hours. The tasks can be completed on one or all of either a desktop, mobile, or tablet. I find it best to complete tasks on a desktop or laptop as the majority of tasks are available on those devices. The site works great on mobile and tablet though and is worth using if not at a place you have access to a desktop or laptop.
Over the years, I have seen the pay per hour for tasks range from $1-$200 and have completed tasks that took me 15 seconds to around an hour and a half. At the end of the day, the length of the tasks isn’t what is important, it is the pay per hour that you need to pay attention to.
My rule of thumb is that I generally look to complete tasks that pay at least $12/hr if the task will take longer than 2 minutes to complete. I’m flexible depending on what I am doing though. If I’m just sitting on the couch zoning out to some TV show I don’t care about, I might as well make a bit of money!
The best part of Prolific is that once you have $6 approved from completing tasks you can cash out directly to your PayPal account. I generally build up my balance for a week or two and then cash out. In my experience, you get your money in a few minutes to a day.
On a personal note, there was a time in a life where I depended on Prolific to make bill payments. I’m not longer in that situation and I now cash out to PayPal and move into a savings account there. Their savings account has a decent APY, so you can earn some extra money each month. It can also double as an emergency fund or savings account for a big purchase.
